The Freedom 2000 Internet Controlled Pan/Tilt Mount is most commonly connected to a computer in one location (server) and then controlled by a computer in another location (client), via the Internet. However, if desired the pan/tilt mount can be connected to and controlled by a single computer. These instructions explain how to connect the device to a computer. Whether the server and client computers are the same or unique, the Freedom 2000 is connected to the computer in the same manner. Once the device is connected to a computer and the software is installed, the device can be operated through a web browser on any computer connected to the Internet. The features of the software are described in the software section.
When you receive your Freedom 2000 Internet Controlled Pan/Tilt Mount, it should contain the following components:
If you specified in your order that you want the standard ¼"-20 tripod stud on your pan/tilt mount, you should also find two black o-rings taped to the side of your pan/tilt mount. These o-rings will be used to ensure the payload remains secured to the mount during operation. If you requested the universal mounting strap option, your package should include one Velcro strap for securing the payload to the mount, as well as two Velcro coins with adhesive backing that will be placed on the top and bottom of your intended payload. You will also need to provide a standard male-female parallel port cable. Make sure that the components listed above are present in your package. Take care not to drop or otherwise damage the components when removing them from their packaging. If any of the components are damaged or missing upon arrival, please contact us at tech@mill-shaf.com
Once the components are removed from their packaging, place the pan/tilt mount on a desktop, tabletop, or other flat surface. Connect one end of the parallel port cord to an open parallel port on the back of the server computer. Holding the pan/tilt mount by its base, connect the other end of the parallel port cord to the parallel port on the base of the pan/tilt mount. Plug the DC Wall Transformer into a standard 120V, 60Hz outlet to supply power to the mount. Holding the pan/tilt mount by its base, connect the power supply to the pan/tilt mount at the power supply jack in the base of the mount. Check to make sure all connections are secure and that the pan/tilt mount is on a level surface.
The camera can be connected to the mount in one of two ways, depending upon whether your mount is has the standard, ¼"-20 tripod stud, or if it is equipped with Velcro for a more universal mounting option. The two methods of securing a camera to the mount are described below. For standard tripod stud:
For universal Velcro option:
At this point your camera or other payload should be securely attached to your pan/tilt mount, and the power supply and parallel port cables should be connected to the base of the mount.
